Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005) Video Review

Stewie Griffin The Untold Story DVD box cover

I am a fan of Family Guy but had never seen this direct to video movie. It has good reviews so I decided to dive in and see what it was all about, The video is an 88 minute version of the show, with typical sutaways and jokes, It just has a longer developing storyline revolving around Stewie and him meeting himself in the future and how he deals with what he learns,

Overall it is a good video if you like Family Guy, but I oddly felt like the movie was too long. I got tired of all the cut-aways and jokes, something that never happens during a regular episode. So as far as Family Guy goes this is only an average story overall despite some wonderful jokes throughout. Then in the last 5 minutes we get a maze scene with Chris and the West Wing ! I did not expect to see that !

I give it a 7/10. Check out the trailer below:

I liked the first Sonic movie and when I heard that the second movie might have a maze in it I was excited to see it also. When it came out I was living in Mexico and my local theaters only had the Spanish language version (normally there is an English version with subtitles), so I waited until it was released on Prime Video to see it.

The movie is what you would expect. Lots of rapidly moving hedgehogs, a fun over the top Jim Carrey, and a story that fits the target audience. Basically, it is a movie worth seeing but it is not going to win any awards, and if you miss it, no worries. As far as the maze scene, I can can confirm it is part of a temple quest in the back/middle of the movie that will remind people my age of the videogame. It is an important plot point and a nice maze. Here is a screenshot of it:

I give it a 6.345/10. Check out the trailer below:

Maze of the Week #49 - Temple of Kukulcán Maze

Maze of the week #49 features a maze of the Temple of Kukulcán at Chichen Itza in Mexico. The more you learn about this pyramid, the more amazing it becomes. The acoustics mimic the sounds of local birds. There is a feathered serpent that crawls down the pyramid near the equinoxes. It has a hidden component (no spoilers) inside it. I want to visit ! You can read about it here, but I suggest you invest the time in the episode below !

There have been 90+ episodes of the TV Series Unearthed and the very first featured this pyramid, a wonderful honor. If you have time to sit and watch the full episode (43 minutes) it is worth it.

Let’s look at a photo of the pyramid:

The Maze: One version. Black and White. Large paper is better to solve. In fact because I went all out on the details of individual stones….it is even difficult to tell this is a maze.

Haunt (2019) Movie Review

Haunt (2019) IMDB Prime

Haunt movie poster

I like good old fashioned slasher flic now and then, and that is exactly what this is. The concept is a group of friends who get sidetracked down a country road to a haunted house. Of course the haunted house is run by actual crazies because this is a horror film. And while there is nothing groundbreaking here, the story that is told is done well and is believable. We have kids being chased by guys in evil clown masks and we all hate clowns am I right ? Yes or yes ?

As far as the maze goes, well this is a haunted house with winding paths and choices along the way which they speak about needing to escape from. They even call it a maze at one point. If you like horror, this is for you. You even get a glimpse of this in the closing credits with a diagram of the haunted house !!!

I give it a 6.5/10.
